Camp Rules & Guidelines

 

 

General Information: 

 

Registration Deadline: March 31, 2012

On Site Sign In and Registration:  From 12:00 pm Friday to 9:00 am Saturday on lower grounds near Pillory & Stocks.

Event Camps close:  3:30 pm Sunday

Site Departures:  Saturday: before 9:00 am or after 5:00 pm; Sunday: before 9:00 am or after 3:30 pm.  

Waiver:  Every participant must sign a waiver when registering. Units may list their people attending.  

Public Event Hours:  10 am–5 pm daily (no anachronisms in camps during those hours)

Amenities:  firewood, bedding straw, water, Sutlers Row, Saturday evening Jollification

Meals:  On your own

After Hours:  McCaa’s Tavern Saturday Night 7:30-11:45 pm (BYO or beer/wine for purchase to benefit Historic Camden). Pack your Instruments!

                       

Scheduled Public Events:  Battle of the Ages/2:00 pm Saturday; weapons, tactical and cavalry demos, military music demos, time-line presentations, 1:30 pm Sunday Parade

 

Competitions:  Best Unit Demo, Best Camp and People’s Choice

 

Event Guidelines:

 

Camp Impression:  authentic to time-line impressions only.  No in-camp merchandise sales except blanket sales.  No sitting on hay bales, please. 

 

Campfires:  Dig a shallow pit only.  Replace sod when leaving.  Please empty all trash in dumpsters at departure.  Do Not leave any garbage in fire pits. 

   

Decorum/Manners, etc:  Highest conduct at all times, please. Parental oversight of children at all times.  No controlled substances or open containers during visitor hours.

 

Anachronistic Cars in Camp:  Not after 9:00 am Sat. or Sun. or before 3:30 pm Sunday. No anachronistic vehicles overnight in camps. Set up: Unload cars before setting up, then park cars in designated areas. 

 

Insurance:  proof of policy (minimum liability coverage) required. Contact us if this is NOT carried by your unit for other provisions.

 

Horses:  all mounts must have proof of Coggins Test within the past 12 months. 

 

Pets:  Please leave pets at home (no-pets policy for the public also).

  

Firearms Safety.  General weapons safety and ammunition rules to be strictly obeyed.  Only appropriate to time-line gun cleaning accessories allowed during public hours.

 

 There will be a “Battle of the Ages” skirmish at 2:00 pm Saturday.  Those wishing to “play” make sure to check the box on the registration form so we can work out the logistics.

 

Amenities include firewood and bedding straw and assorted sutlers.  Because the event continues to grow in size, Saturday night dinner will be on your own, rather than hosted by the trustees of Historic Camden.   Wood will be available for campfire cooking and downtown restaurants will offer uniformed re-enactors discounts.  McCaa’s Tavern will host the Jollification from 7:30–11:45 pm. Awards for Best Demonstration, Best Camp and People’s Choice competitions will be presented at Sunday’s parade/ceremony at 1:30 pm at the Kershaw-Cornwallis House.
